Our Mission
nw9 was inaugurated on 9 November 2021 by Stiftung Kunstwissenschaft Köln, a charitable institution. Its mission is the advancement of first-class visual art. It is dedicated to innovative artistic expression and the creative process by promoting artists and providing a platform for new voices.
To fulfill its mission, nw9.space will invite artists to create and to present artworks. nw9.space is not a commercial gallery and will work with artists, galleries, museums, and other institutions to organize innovative exhibitions. Research and other educational activities are an integral part of its mission.
nw9’s objective is to foster the exploration and understanding of visual arts. nw9 also aims at providing a platform for the advancement of art education in Cologne and surrounding areas.
By supporting dialogue nw9 hopes to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and ideas in and around art and art history and to support critical thinking, risk taking, and provocation in the arts.
Its main sponsor is Michael & Eleonore Stoffel Stiftung, Cologne, also a charitable institution.
It is open on Fridays from noon to 5 pm and by appointment for private visits.
